This riveting adaptation of James Kennaway's novel boasts superb performances by Alec Guinness and John Mills as British army officers locked in a battle of wills. Ordered to give up command of his regiment, a bootstrap career soldier (Guinness) immediately clashes with the aristocratic colonel (Mills) sent to replace him.
