The Great American Western: Gene Autry
Contains "Public Cowboy No.1" (62 min.): Local cattle is being rustled and the sheriff has to call on Gene and Smiley to track the rustlers down. This action thriller is highlighted by Gene's song "The West Ain't What It Used to Be". "Man Of The Frontier" aka "Red River Valley" (60 min.) Villains plan to stop construction of a dam being built to save a drought-parched valley. Gene, working undercover as a ditch-digger, foils them despite considerable "assistance" from his sidekick, Smiley. Great fist fights spark the action. "Boots and Saddles" (59 min.): Gene is terrific in this clever tale about an English tenderfoot who inherits a working ranch. Gene and his not-so-subtle sidekick, Smiley, have to teach the foreigner the "code of the West".
