A Touch of Sin
Four independent stories set in modern China about random acts of violence. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, with Jia winning the award for Best Screenplay. The film confronts China's extreme social changes with a daring aesthetic, drawing inspiration from real-life events to compose a visually arresting, emotionally disturbing fresco of the underprivileged.
