The tragic story of sea kayaker Andrew McAuley's fated journey as he attempted to traverse the Tasman sea between Tasmania and New Zealand. A video camera mounted on the bow of his boat captured his experience as he paddled into the abyss, attempting to survive fierce storms, enormous sharks and over a month of confinement in his one-man craft. However, two days before the anticipated end of his trip, NZ authorities received a garbled distress signal with words deciphered as "my kayak's sinking". Though he was just 50 miles from his finish line, McAuley's body was never found. Also includes interviews with friends and family, along with his widow Vicki, who believes he made it to his destination.
