The Story of O
Banned in New Zealand for 25 years! O (Corinne Clery) is taken by her boyfriend Rene (Udo Kier) to a mysterious club where a group of submissive women live to sexually serve the men. At first, O seems powerless like so many of the others but after role plays and lessons in sado-masochism her personal pride comes to the fore and she realises that the male desire for her body gives her power over them. An often misunderstood erotic cult classic (due to the direction of the slightly sleazy ex-fashion-photographer Jaeckin) this is actually based on a book by a woman and is about female empowerment through understanding of their own sexuality and controlling the influence of this over men.
